Foreword from
HERMAN MASHABA
Dear Fellow South Africans,
It is my great privilege to unveil ActionSA’s inaugural manifesto for a
national election campaign. The unveiling of our 2024 election
manifesto signifies a historic milestone for ActionSA on our mission to fix
South Africa. It is the culmination of over three years of engagement
with the South African people because we believe that by tapping into
the lived experiences of South Africans, we can ensure that our plans
align with our capacity to execute them, rather than producing mere
aspirational documents.
Thirty years into democracy, ActionSA’s manifesto offers hope to millions
of South Africans disillusioned by the political establishment. It will
meaningfully improve the lives of our people to finally achieve the
dreams those who fought for democracy fought for.
The manifesto we are unveiling is not a list of unattainable promises but
a pragmatic plan aimed at addressing some of the country's most
pressing issues. It aims to generate millions of new jobs, foster safer
communities, secure our borders, ensure access to quality education and
healthcare for all, and, for the first time, promote the inclusive
empowerment of all previously disadvantaged South Africans, as well as
those hindered by three decades of neglectful, unethical, and unpatriotic
governance.
Starting with The People’s Dialogue, where we engaged with millions of
South Africans, consultation with the South African people has always
been integral to ActionSA’s approach. Leading up to our inaugural
policy conference last year, we not only conducted 14 expert policy
discussions but also received numerous submissions detailing what our
members and the South African people deem essential for the prosperity
of our nation.
