I understand that an editor reviews every submission against the sources; that nothing on the record is changed, removed or published because of it without that review; and that a claim gives a right of response, not control of the record.

How submissions are handled

Every submission is held for review. An editor checks it against official sources before anything is decided.
Official records — results, candidate lists, rosters, court records — are never removed or rewritten because of a submission. If they are wrong, a corrected official record is loaded and a correction notice is published.
Decisions (confirmed, partially confirmed, corrected or rejected) are published on the record page with a short explanation. Who submitted is never published.
Contact details are encrypted to a key held offline and kept for at most a year; your network address is kept only as a one-way code for 30 days, to prevent abuse.
