Accountability
Report wrongdoing
Bribes, fraud, rigged tenders, misused public money and abuse of office can be reported to official bodies whose job is to act on them. Choose what happened to see who handles it and how to reach them. If you prefer, send it to Mandate SA: anonymously, and a moderator forwards it to the right body. Reports are never published.
If someone is in danger, call SAPS on 10111.

Send it to Mandate SA (optional)
We read every report and forward it, through the body's own official route, to the one best placed to act. We do not investigate, judge or publish reports.
What makes a useful report
- What happened, in your own words, and how you know.
- Who was involved: their role or office, and their name if you know it.
- Where and when it happened, or whether it is still happening.
- Any evidence: a receipt, letter, document, photo or screenshot.
- Whether you have reported it elsewhere, and any case or reference number.
Your privacy
- Anonymous by default: no account, name or phone number is asked for.
- Your report is read only by Mandate SA moderators. It is never published, and nobody named in it is shown publicly.
- Your internet address is not stored; a scrambled fingerprint of it is used only to limit repeated reports.
- You get a reference to check the status: received, being reviewed, forwarded (and to whom) or not forwarded.
If you are an employee
The Protected Disclosures Act 26 of 2000 protects employees, in the public and private sectors, from being punished at work for disclosing wrongdoing through the routes the Act sets out, which include their employer, the Public Protector and the Auditor-General. If you are unsure whether your disclosure is protected, get legal advice before you make it.
Stay safe
Do not put yourself at risk to collect evidence, and do not confront the people involved. If someone is in danger, call SAPS on 10111.
